[Admittedly, "tag along with me while I go challenge Hamelin to a duel because I don't know if I'll be able to make it back to our rooms without help when I'm done" really wasn't the best sort of invitation to be making to someone. He's almost surprised that Tenn agreed to come along at all, though he supposes the "and I didn't tell Phil" footnote was probably also a contributing factor to that part.
He honestly does feel a bit bad leaving him outside Hamelin's office to wait for whatever state he might emerge in, but... there really isn't anyone else here (besides perhaps Suga) that he trusts enough to help him should he wind up badly injured as a result.
